More of the Legendary Lance Russell as his referring to the Dream Machine as a “cartoon” causes Jimmy Hart’s man to rough him up!

Today in Wrestling History, we take an early look at WWE Hall Of Famer Jerry Lawler in Memphis Wrestling with broadcasting great Lance Russell.

Here, they perform what’s known inside wrestling as a “rib”, on the doctor. Lance Russell is smooth. Lawler can’t quite control himself.

It’s the night after Bad Blood 1 and Shawn Michaels, Triple H and Chyna are the top heels. Here, Triple H & Shawn Michaels run down Vince McMahon for an incident in 1996 that punished Triple H for one year.

The 1996 incident occured in Madison Square Garden during Razor Ramon (Scott Hall) and Diesel’s (Kevin Nash) final match in the WWF. After the show, Razor and Nash hugged Michaels & Triple H in the ring, breaking character for the first time in modern wrestling history. Vince McMahon saw this as a break in family and wrestling tradition and punished Triple H for about one year. Triple H was scheduled to get a big push in 1996. That push was put off for nearly a year due to he and Shawn breaking character.

Yes, Shawn Michaels was on top at the time and ‘could’ have been punished. But he was a big draw at the, and thus, Triple H was mad an example out of. The “Clique” that Michaels is referring to was collectively, himself, Nash, Hall and Sean Waltman (Syxx/Xpack/1-2-3 Kid/Lightning Kid). Chyna went out with Triple for a short time, as well.

Take note at 1:00 when Jimmy Hart accidently acknowledges that WWE Hall Of Famer Jerry Lawler is Brian Christopher’s Father.

He says “Be like your dad” - Christopher yells “What did he just say!?” then says something about Hart being “smarter than everyone else” and “kayfabe”

This is from Jan of 1983 - an early Jim Cornette promo here from mid-south wrestling. Jim Cornette, without a doubt, is one of the best managers in Pro Wrestling. It’s too bad that tna wrestling does not use him on the air much - or, these days - at all.

In fact, it’s a shame that the role of managers have been lowered so much these days. Unfortunately once a manager gets over (at least in the WWE’s case) they scrap them! Someone, quick, get Abraham Washington a ‘big man’!

At 10 seconds keep in mind that Jim Cornette does not curse - he yells “Funk!” The flamboyant one is Exotice Adrian Street. The announcer is the legendary Lance Russell.
